Week 7 - MKTG 6101 - Chapter 7 Surfing the Tsunami
In this chapter of Surfing the Tsunami, written by Helen Yu, we have an interesting segment that is geared towards having a better understanding of why it is so important to become more adept with AI. This includes the methods that the book teaches in the previous chapters such as balancing out your schedule/time, looking over articles and news reports to help build understanding and interest, and finally learning everyday towards the study of Artificial intelligence. Last week was an interesting chapter that I had to write a blog on, and I basically wrote about how I have been adapting to the rapid learning of understanding Artificial intelligence ever since picking up the book.
One quick summary from my blog is that there is really no shortcuts to truly understanding a topic of interest. It is best to learn and grasp the knowledge gradually and that way the information will be absorbed more naturally than if the topic was read over once. I remember that I also mentioned how this was my experience when becoming more adaptable to the study of AI. I started to face burnout after I tried weeks of cramming loads of information into my brain. This did not turn out to be bad but it really was not the best method of learning that was suitable for me. Overall I felt like I digressed and ended up being stretched too thin. But luckily the book also touches on subjects such as what to do to feel more balanced when pursuing the journey of learning Artificial intelligence. One thing I was amazed by was that the book would help us learn about different people who have pushed themselves to advance in AI into what it is today. In this case, we have Mr. Andrew Ng to thank for his discoveries and for helping to make learning AI to be easier than ever. Mr. Ng then started an online course, “MOOC” revolution (Massively Open Online Courses), and this was what was used for when he cofounded the famous site 'Coursera'. Even up until today, most experience AI developers would say that his online courses on machine learning are very popular and influential.
