Week 6- MKTG 6101- Ascend Your Start-Up

 Helen Yu's - Ascend Your Start-Up

For this week, the chapter we reviewed was pertaining monitoring the metrics of performance for your business and focusing on areas that show room for improvement. For the reading, Ascend your Start-Up,  the author uses Chapter 6 to motivate the reader into thinking about ways to formulate an understanding for your core business strengths. With this example, it does strengthen the idea that it is impossible to always be the best. This type of shining is not attainable and more damaging to the minds of those who internalize this philosophy. Even though it is not possible to be the best at everything, it is possible to secure a lead for at least one specific task. There is even an example of how Amazon, the leading seller in books & Ecommerce, has such promising resources when it comes to their distribution and how it was structured to be very reliable. This is an example of how a company will acknowledge a core strength within its own operations and endorse on that until it becomes more of an asset that is then used to better satisfy customers/consumers.

With this being said, it is a must for a company to continually observe and analyze any metrics that pertain to the performance and processes in different sections of the business. This is how you will find the special areas to focus on and develop the business processes involved in that area of specialty. The way to develop these areas is by using the data accumulated and making actions in relations to the data pulled.

The author is known for always using descriptive literature to point out some of the main topics she wants the reader to understand when reading a chapter. In this case, Helen Yu made sure to emphasis how important it is for a founder to constantly reevaluate what matters in a company setting. Overall, this chapter highlights the strong decisiveness, and decision-making that goes into any start-up and any kind of business. The reason for these decisions being made is because of how we as suppliers and consumers are constantly making new choices, constantly changing, and innovating. Not only the suppliers/consumers but even the supply and demand of the different markets are always changing and thus it reminds businesses and companies to stay vigilant. Finally, you must be ready to dissect your business processes, reinventing your core strengths, and organize your business plan so that your whole team will follow soothe.
