Week 3 - MBA 6101 – LinkedIn article, Trending and monthly minutes video

This blog is done in response to the Trending and Monthly minutes video: Overall I enjoyed watching the video and absorbing the information that came with it. The slides that involved the comscore slides were insightful as I was not aware of information centered around those metrics and I can see why these were brought to the attention of whoever is watching the video.  Another thing that was done, was that they ended up showing how many people are out there spending time on all the different social platforms available. These metrics are accounting each year and comparing it to the following year to see how effective social media is when considering the effect of the advertising slots are now specifically aimed to reach as many as possible while also using data to determine their projections.

In the video, the comscore data makes it clear that the Facebook reach in 2013 was 88% and then the numbers were then increased to 93% in 2014.  This is only a year apart and yet we can see a significant amount of percentage change. The only thing that was strange was that they discovered that the average minutes users spent on the application were decreasing for each month passing. This applies to both users who use computer/PCS and those who use smartphone mobile devices. using PC's and mobile devices. The decrease were minimal in PC as the minutes were reduced by 8 minutes per month, but however the mobile minutes have decreased by 73 minutes per month which is significantly large.

I saw an article on Forbes.com, where they mention how TikTok (Chinese made application) has a growth that is up 75% this year. TikTok was the #1 top grossing app on iOS App Store globally in the second quarter of 2020 and they have estimated that there are 33 times more users than the nearest direct competitor. This blows my mind as to how quickly Tiktok has flooded the United States and other regions of the world. The stats say about one in six people in the Unites States are now a weekly user of Tiktok. These numbers do not look to be slowing down anytime soon, so I would recommend that everyone should aim to make a Tiktok or try to benefit off it.
